If you like making your own cleaning products at home with essential oils you are going to love this simple homemade Dishwasher Detergent Tablet recipe. It smells amazing, works great, and is not loaded with the chemicals that the store bought packages are.
We have scented this homemade dishwasher soap with lemongrass essential oil, but you can use your favorite scent or leave out essential oils.
Grab a fun silicone mold to make your dishwasher tablets in. You might also want a mason jar to store them on your kitchen counter. They will make a pretty addition sitting next to your sink as well as a functional one.

Ingredients:
- ½ cup vinegar
- 1 cup washing soda
- ¼ cup baking soda
- 1 cup borax
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- 20 drops lemongrass essential oil
Supplies:
- A Silicone Mold
- A jar for storage
Directions:
- Stir all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl, mix them thoroughly. Using a whisk really mixes everything well and keeps it from clumping up.
- Add the essential oil and mix well again to distribute through your mixture.
- Very slowly add vinegar a little at a time, stirring until well mixed. It will bubble some as you mix, it’s a simple scientific reaction really! The mixture should clump and hold well when squeezed in your hands.
- Press firmly into the silicone mold, remember to use one with small enough shapes so that they will fit in your dishwasher soap dispenser door.
- Allow to dry over several hours or overnight until completely hardened.
- Carefully pop them out of the mold and place in a jar for storage- keep them dry until ready for use. They look great in a pretty jar.
